PROLOGUE

The five senses tell us it is time to be moving north.

The sense of sight shows us that the trees at Lake Road have fully leafed out.  The sense of hearing relays the songs of birds to our waiting ears.  The sense of smell alerts us to the blooming gardenias that abound in our yard.  The taste of honeysuckle blooms tell us that summer is near and the sense of touch or feel lets us experience the hot days and warm southern nights.

This isn’t our first rodeo and we have been preparing since we got home last fall.  Yes, there has been hunting, holidays, family, friends, root canals, crowns, spring tune ups also known as annual physicals, new tires on the coach as well as oil and lube along with some new batteries.  In addition we tore off old siding and put new on our pump house.  The navigator’s new car has made two trips to Alabama and as many to Louisiana.  The toad, aka Subaru, sports a new clutch as well as a reworked body from the front doors up and new paint in the same area.  For the faithful readers they will remember the time last year that the toad tried to pass the Marlin and got a mashed nose for its efforts.

Onie and the driver have washed the Marlin and waxed the front and back.

Onie has loaded much of what will accompany us on our adventure this year while the driver has worked in the yard   She has a coach that with another day’s effort will be ready to travel.  He has a pile of brush and tree limbs that will have to be burned next fall.

In a day or two, perhaps three, the Subaru will be connected to the Marlin, the Cummins will roar to life.  The Allison will be engaged.  The parking brake will be released.  The wheels will begin to turn and the next saga of the great adventures of Onie and Pawpaw will have begun.

We hope you will ride along with us as we experience this great country and our neighbor to the north, Canada.

The next one hundred fifty days, or so, will see us travel many miles, meet many new folks, renew old friendships, experience new challenges and live comfortably in our three hundred twenty square feet rolling home.

Come on, let’s ride!
